PEIK educates the next generation of power and energy engineers at UK and offers both Undergraduate Certificates and Graduate Certificates. In addition to fundamental multi-disciplinary courses on Power Generation, Power Systems, and Power Policy and Economics, PEIK faculty at UK also offers more specialized courses on Smart Grid, Power Protection, Electric Distribution, Sustainable and Renewable Energy, and many others with a total of more than a thousand annual enrollments.

PEIK frequently offers seminars and short courses for professional development. Examples of recent educational activities include presentations from our PEIK Distinguished Seminar series featuring Lonnie Bellar, Chief Operating Officer of LG&E and KU, Dr. Ion Boldea, IEEE Life Fellow, Denver York, Senior Vice President of Power Delivery and System Operations and Dr. Robert Heideman, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the A.O. Smith Corporation.

PEIK also offers workshops and public exhibitions at conferences and events for industry professionals. Examples include a National Electric Code Workshop (NEC and NFPA 79), The Kentucky Governor’s Conference on Energy and the Environment, and Engineering Day at the University of Kentucky.
