With over 30 full-time faculty members dedicated to teaching and research, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering supports research in numerous relevant fields. We advance aerospace research and often work with NASA on research methods for its future missions. The Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing pioneers new manufacturing standards that respect the planet’s resources. Our Institute of Research for Technological Development (IR4TD) explores fire research, painting technology research, lean manufacturing systems and more. Mechanical and aerospace engineering is a diverse discipline, and our robust faculty is engaged in every aspect of it.
NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes 5 Pigman College of Engineering students, alums
The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced a total of eight students and recent graduates have been selected as award winners of the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Of these eight, five were from the Pigman College of Engineering.
Herrin elected Institute of Noise Control Engineering Fellow
The Institute of Noise Control Engineering of the USA (INCE-USA) Board of Directors has elected University of Kentucky’s David Herrin, professor of vibrations and acoustics in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, an INCE Fellow.
UK celebrates opening of engineering lab designed to advance US manufacturing
