Jeffrey Seay, the PJC Board of Trustees Engineering Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, has been elected an American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) Fellow, the organization’s highest grade of membership.

Pigman College of Engineering faculty Jeffrey Seay has been elected an American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AlChE) Fellow, the organization’s highest grade of membership. This distinction is achieved only through peer nomination and election from the AIChE Board of Directors, and honors Seay for his significant contributions to the field.

Seay is the PJC Board of Trustees Engineering Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the Paducah Campus and a member of the Power and Energy Institute of Kentucky (PEIK). His research interests include design/modeling/transport and energy conversion.

Seay has authored 50 publications, established a nonprofit organization committed to combating plastic waste accumulation in the environment called Engineers for Sustainable Energy Solutions and was the winner of the 2013 AIChE Sustainable Engineering Forum Education Award.

Within AIChE, Seay’s leadership includes roles in the Sustainable Engineering Forum, the International Committee and as programming chair of the Environmental Division. He currently chairs AIChE’s topical conference on waste plastics and is a member of the managing board of AIChE’s Institute for Sustainability and the Climate Solutions Community.

Seay joined AIChE when he was an undergrad and his involvement has remained an important aspect of his career.

“I've been involved in AIChE since I was an undergraduate student member many years ago,” Seay said. “Throughout my career I have always felt it was important to stay involved with AIChE to contribute to the profession of Chemical Engineering. I'm truly honored to be recognized for my contributions and plan to stay involved as a Fellow.

Fellows are an important resource for AIChE, a leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 60,000 members from more than 110 countries. Fellows provide experience-based guidance to leadership and members, as well as contributing to the activities of many AIChE entities.
