Effective July 31, 2023, Todd Boggess resigned from his position of president of Secat, Inc., after 22 years of service to the laboratory and its operation.
Secat, Inc. is a metallurgical research laboratory in Lexington that specializes in aluminum technology by providing materials testing, failure analysis, alloy development, and product and process improvement services.
Boggess joined Secat shortly after its inception in 1999. Throughout his tenure, he served as an invaluable member of the team, primarily in leadership positions, which culminated in his promotion to president of Secat in 2020.
Under Boggess’ leadership, Secat evolved from a small research organization to a full-service state-of-the-art metallurgical testing and analysis lab serving over 400 customers worldwide.
Over the years, Boggess maintained the original Secat mission of providing value-added technical support to the aluminum industry and broader materials community by hiring and promoting best in class scientists and engineers. He spearheaded Secat’s recent growth initiatives by leading the acquisition of two independent test facilities in 2023.
Boggess played a crucial role in establishing Secat as a premier research center for the aluminum industry. His years of service were hallmarked by his dedication, leadership and commitment.
"We want to express our sincere gratitude to Todd for his exceptional contributions to Secat," said Secat Board Chairman Mike Buckentin. "His professionalism and passion for our company's mission have left a positive impact on both our employees and the company's achievements."
To succeed Boggess in leadership of Secat, the Board of Directors appointed Nicholas Nanninga to interim general manager, effective Aug. 1. Nanninga joined Seacat in 2020 and served as technical director for the last three years. He earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Michigan Technological University and has spent his career at several metals manufacturing companies, focused on alloy and process development.
Nanninga will be joined in leadership of Secat by his colleague and mentor, VP of Engineering Shridas Ningileri. Ningileri’s areas of focus include applied research, testing and development in all areas of aluminum production including alloy development, energy savings by melting optimization and process developments related to productivity improvement. Ningileri also serves as the director of the UK Pigman College of Engineering Center for Aluminum Technology.
