The annual Dean’s Faculty Awards ceremony was held April 15, 2018 at the Hilary J. Boone Center. Awards were given to faculty members and graduate students.
The annual College of Engineering Awards Banquet sponsored by Tau Beta Pi took place April 9, 2019 at the Bill Gatton Student Center.
Last summer, materials engineering assistant professor Jonathan Pham received two National Science Foundation grants totaling $525,000. Pham, who joined the UK College of Engineering faculty in 2017, researches soft materials and interfaces and liquid-surface interactions, among other interests. Basically, he explores how solid materials…well, sometimes liquids…depending on the size, of course…well, probably better if he explains it.
The overarching goal of the project is an improved understanding of processing-structure-property links in multi-principal element alloy (MPEA) materials, specifically the effects of alloy composition on mechanical behavior, with a focus on ductility.
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in materials engineering at the assistant professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2019.
The GAANN grant will provide funds to support graduate students pursing doctoral degrees in materials science and engineering at UK.
