Support the Larry G. Wells Scholarship Fund
The University of Kentucky Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department is seeking financial support to fund an endowed scholarship in memory of Dr. Larry G. Wells, who passed away on March 7, 2021, after a short illness. The Larry G. Wells Scholarship Fund will support an annual scholarship for undergraduate students who are accepted or enrolled at the University; and majoring in Biosystems Engineering with preference given to students interested in agricultural mechanization. The University of Kentucky requires $50,000 to endow a fellowship. The annual amount of the scholarship is expected to be a minimum of $1350 but could be more depending on the investment earnings. As of August 16, 2021, donations of $29,773.31 have been received primarily from the BAE faculty, BAE retirees and friends.
Dr. Fred Payne, chair of the fundraising committee, has adopted a goal to fund the fellowship before the first anniversary of Larry’s death on March 7, 2022. He further stated that the BAE Departments plans to celebrate the good news of our successful funding of this scholarship in early in 2022 with a special newsletter. We hope to include you on the list of contributors to the Larry G. Wells Scholarship Fund. Please consider a donation and be prepared to claim part of the success early next year. Your help with a donation would be appreciated, as we have a long way to go.
