Savio Poovathingal Receives DEPSCOR Award to Model Hypersonic Environments

Savio Poovathingal received a three-year $600,000 award from the Department of Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) for his project titled, “Fragmentation and melting of ice particles subjected to hypersonic aerothermodynamic environments.” Poovathingal is an assistant professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering.

UK Student Projects Launched By NASA

This summer, eight undergraduate University of Kentucky College of Engineering students traveled to NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia, to participate in RockOn and Rock Sat-X. Both programs allow college students interested in the aerospace industry to get hands-on experience with NASA launches.
