Some of the things we do:
Provide desktop and workstation support for over 1200 computers and networked devices used by faculty, students, and staff. Including:
Complete installation and setup service of new systems. Includes data transfer from existing systems, securing systems against network intrusion, and software installation.
Complete troubleshooting including break-fix repair on Dell systems.
Data recovery services (limited - we cannot recover data from physically damaged drives).
Virus infection and security breach recovery, including complete system rebuilds and data recovery where necessary.
Complete Unix/Linux workstation setup and installation.
Provide on-going Unix/Linux workstation administration and maintenance including data backup.
Provide assistance for Unix cluster administration.
Maintain the College's web server hosting a number of virtual web sites.

Additionally, many research groups, student groups, faculty, and students have web sites on this system.
Maintain data storage and backup facilities for faculty, staff and research groups. This provides individual and shared network storage for faculty, staff, departments and research groups. Faculty can use this to easily access data produced in their labs from anywhere.
Maintain the College's email services (POP, webmail, and Lotus Notes), College's list-serves, directory services, and SPAM and virus filters.
Loaner laptops for faculty to use in preparing and presenting courses and presentations.
Large format printing for posters and presentations.
Maintain and assist with departmental PC labs (currently ones in Chemical, Mining and Civil Engineering).
Maintain PC's in the new Ingels dormitory (previously, Blanding III lab).
Provide web based programming assistance and site development for; courses, presentations, surveys, conferences, and lectures.
Provide A/V support for classrooms in the engineering complex (overhead projectors, presentation projectors, DVD players and VCR's).
Provide general use Unix/Linux systems that allow students to use Matlab, Maple, Ansys, Tecplot and Nastran remotely.
Email account for engineering students, faculty and staff. Engineering students retain their accounts for one year past graduation.
Network troubleshooting and support including; network addresses, problem resolution, patch cables, and connection services in several Engineering buildings.
Provide recommendations for faculty, students, and staff looking to purchase PC's (both departmental and personal).
Presentations on various topics to Engineering classes as requested.
Provide software license managers and application hosting for departmental software including: Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Sysnoise, FemLab, Aspen, VNet, CivilFEM, and Meeting Maker. (Access to this software is at the discretion of the department or faculty member who owns the software.)
