Civil Engineering Alumnus is an Engineering News Record Midwest Top Young Professional

December 13, 2022

Muralikrishna (Krishna) Chelupati, who graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2005 with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, has been selected as an Engineering News Record Midwest Top Young Professional for 2023.

Twenty individuals under the age of 40 were selected based on their talent, leadership and service in the AEC industry. Regional winners will move forward for consideration in the national round of judging, which will decide ENR’s 2023 Top 20 Under 40.

Chelupati, who is a Senior Associate at Stantec, was a graduate research assistant for Professor Lindell Ormsbee at the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute.

An award-winning hydraulic modeler, Chelupati’s technical acumen in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling has shaped the planning of wastewater and stormwater collection systems across North America. His drive stems from seeing communities flourish from his work—one of his favorite projects was modeling a storage tank and pump station to significantly reduce the annual number of overflows to Cleveland’s Cuyahoga River.

“I would like to thank UK Civil Engineering and Dr. Ormsbee for playing an important role in shaping my career and many other civil engineering professionals,” said Chelupati.
