Two UK Engineering Professors Receive NSF CAREER Awards

The CAREER Award is one of the "most prestigious awards in support of the early career-development activities of those teacher-scholars who most effectively integrate research and education within the context of their organization's mission," according to the NSF.

Julius Schoop (pictured to the left), assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and core faculty member in the Institute for Sustainable Manufacturing, received the award for his project titled “CAREER: Thermomechanical Response and Fatigue Performance of Surface Layers Engineered by Finish Machining: In-situ Characterization and Digital Process Twin” The project will award $507,288 over five years. Stephen Ware, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, received the award for his project titled “Structured High-Agency Interactive Narratives for Virtual Environments.” The project will award $530,369.00 over five years. You can learn more about Ware’s research project here.
