Professional Engineers in Mining Seminar Scheduled for August 27

The seminar will be held in person and virtually at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington.

The 34th Kentucky Professional Engineers in Mining (PEM) Seminar will be held in person and virtually on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort in Lexington. Co-sponsored with the Department of Mining Engineering, PEM is a non-profit society for registered professional engineers and other professionals who specialize in the mining, metallurgy and exploration industries in Kentucky and surrounding states. Attendees receive professional development credit which can be applied toward the requirement for maintaining professional engineering licensure.    

On Thursday, August 26, the University of Kentucky Department of Mining Engineering is celebrating its 40-year anniversary as a reinstated department within the College of Engineering. The department will also honor Professor Ted D. Haley, P.E., whose efforts were instrumental in shaping the future of the department in the late ’60s through the early ’80s. All alumni and friends of the department are welcome to attend the reception from 7-9 pm at the Marriott Griffin Gate Resort.
