The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in materials engineering at the assistant professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2019.

As part of a new growth initiative in the College of Engineering at the University of Kentucky, the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in materials engineering at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of Fall 2019.  Applicants should hold the Ph.D. degree in materials science and engineering or a closely related field with a strong record of research accomplishments and the capability to develop an active and nationally recognized research program. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and be qualified to teach a wide range of courses in materials engineering.

Applications are sought from qualified individuals with a record of research accomplishments in (i) the application and/or development of advanced characterization techniques for materials research, and/or (ii) metallurgy. Over the past five years, the UK Electron Microscopy Center has installed $8.5M worth of new instrumentation, establishing state-of-the-art capabilities in broad areas of materials characterization. It is anticipated that these facilities, and continuing growth and expansion of the Center’s capabilities, will strongly support the research activities of this faculty hire.
