University of Kentucky's Douglas Klein was appointed to the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors by Governor Matt Bevin on November 21st, 2017. Project Lead Way director and a lecturer in the College of Engineering, Klein will serve with Kentucky Boards and Commissions until 2021.

"Because of his current role as Project Lead the Way director, at the college, Doug frequently interacts with many K-12 schools throughout the Commonwealth," said Larry Holloway, interim dean of the UK College of Engineering. "This community perspective made him an excellent match for the state board's needs."

While serving on the board, Klein will fill two main roles. First, he will work to ensure the protection of health, safety and welfare of the citizenry of Kentucky by revising statutes, regulations and guidelines. Also, he will adjudicate in matters related to administrative issues arising in professional practice.

"This is my first government appointment to a board. So it is unique and a privilege that they accepted me," says Klein.
