On March 27th, the student chapter of Society of Women Engineers (SWE) hosted the SWE Bowl—a quiz-show based contest that challenges University of Kentucky College of Engineering student organization representatives to answer general questions in the subjects of science, math, physics, engineering, technology, ethics and even UK history. Teams competed against one another in a single elimination tournament.
The top prize of $750 went to the Concrete Canoe team, Tau Beta Pi received $500 for second place and the UK Triangle fraternity took third place and $250. Eight student organizations participated, including Phi Rho, Eta Kappa Nu, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the UK Solar Car Team.
The intent of the SWE Bowl is to give back to the college from what SWE receives through various partnerships with the university. More information about SWE is available at http://swe.engineering.uky.edu/.
