You will receive a full schedule for WiE Explore prior to the camp. Students should expect to check in between 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14. Check-out will be Friday, June 19 following the camp reception in the evening.
Blankets, sheets (linens are available in the residence hall for an additional $50), pillow, towels, washcloths, soap and toiletries, casual summer clothing appropriate for class, athletic shoes/comfortable walking shoes, athletic clothing if interested in wellness activities, umbrella/rain coat, paper/notebook, pencils, tennis racquet or other athletic equipment as desired (soccer ball, etc.). A laptop is welcome but not necessary for completion of the program.
Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, energy drinks, expensive items, large sums of money, weapons (including toy weapons), pets, candles, scooters, televisions, refrigerators or microwaves, cars, alcohol or drugs.
The cost to attend WiE Explore is $675. This cost includes room and board in a UK residence hall, instructional programs, food, field trips, and all other activities during the week. Everything needed in a regular day is provided in the registration fee. The only money students need is for laundry and miscellaneous items. No fee is required at the time of application. Scholarships are available to accepted students, based on need.
Students are required to stay in a University of Kentucky Residence Hall. More information regarding camp housing will be sent after acceptance to the program.
For most meals, students will eat on campus at The 90 or Champions Kitchen, which are large dining areas on the University of Kentucky campus. Each dining location has a “Worry-Free Zone,” with options for students with allergies or food sensitivities. If you have specific dining concerns about your student, please email email@example.com.
