Vision System by Laurence G. Hassebrook and Jeannie M. Hassebrook
The UPVS project was a joint project with the Center for Robotic and Manufacturing Systems for Parker Seals Company. The objective was to detect the presence of exactly one O-ring per opaque package, plus one correctly positioned label. Other conditions such as no O-ring, more than 1 O-ring or no label are rejected via a mechanical sorting device. The system had many automated features including voice prompting to allow the operators to detect problems while away from the computer.
