Ashley Anderson is an undergraduate in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Kentucky. She was admitted into the BS/MBA program at UK, and will graduate in May 2008/July 2009, respectively. Ashley has been an active member in the UK student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) since the fall of 2003, and is the 2007-2008 UK student chapter president. Ashley began working with Samantha Meenach, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, in the spring of 2007. She also participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering and Center for Membrane Sciences at UK during the summer of 2007. Her research involved determining the biocompatibility of temperature-responsive hydrogel nanocomposites through cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility studies. Ashley's projects in the laboratory have been in collaboration with Dr. J. Zachary Hilt, an assistant professor of chemical engineering at UK. Her current research includes the fabrication of stealth hydrogel nanocomposites and further biocompatibility studies.
