Dr. Jingshan Li has moved to Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Wisconsin at Madison from July 2010. Please visit here for updated information.
Dr. Jingshan Li is an assistant professor of
Electrical Engineering and the Institute for
Sustainable Manufacturing. He is the Director of Production and Service Systems Lab and the Director of Health Care Systems Lab. He received his Bachelor degree
from Department of Automation, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1989,
Master degree from Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in 1992, and PhD from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, in 2000. His PhD advisor was Prof. Semyon M. Meerkov. From 2000-2006, Dr. Li worked in the Manufacturing Systems Research Lab, General Motors Research & Development Center, Warren, MI. He joined the University of Kentucky in 2006.
His research area is in system and control with applications to production and health care systems.
Dr. Li is the co-author (with Prof. S.M. Meerkov) of the textbook Production Systems Engineering (Springer, 2009), and co-edited (with Prof. P.T. Kabamba) the book Advances in Systems Theory: Control, Communication Networks, Production Systems and Rational Behavior (WingSpan Press, 2009) and has over 80 referred journal and conference publications.
He is a senior member of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and IIE (Institute of Industrial Engineers). He has been Associate Editors for IEEE Transactions on
Automation Science and Engineering (2006-) and Mathematical Problems in Engineering (2006, 2007), Lead Guest Editor for Special Issue of Automation Science and Engineering in Automotive Manufacturing in IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering.
He received NSF CAREER Award (2010-2015), 2009 IIE Transactions Best Application Paper Award - Design & Manufacturing, IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering Best Paper Award for year 2005, and 2006 IEEE Early Industry/Government Career Award in Robotics and Automation. He was in the finalists of best paper awards in IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (2005) and IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (2009).
Dr. Li's research has been supported by NSF (National Science Foundation), General Motors Research & Development Center, Central Baptist Hospital, University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, University of Kentucky Research Foundation, and SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers).
