First Announcement and Call for Contributons

The CIRP Working Group on Modeling of Machining Operations is organizing a one-day workshop which will be held on May 19, 1998. This event is planned in conjunction with NAMRC at Atlanta, Georgia, USA to give participants the opportunity to attend both. The workshop is designed to highlight the present status and future directions in modeling of machining operations through a series of invited presentations, panel discussions, and paper sessions by active researchers, industry representatives, and government agencies. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:

Suggested Program:

Part I  Invited Presentations (Approx. 3 hours)

Part II  Contributions/Discussion on Selected Topics in Parallel Streams (Approx. 2 hours)
Presentations and disscussion on specific aspects of modeling of machining operations

Part III  Analysis and Conclusions (Approx. 1 hour and 30 mins.)

Call for Contributions:

Interested contributors are invited to submit a short proposal including a topic relevant to the workshop and the type of participation (e.g., formal presentation, group moderation, group discussion, etc.). The deadline for submission of proposal for contributions is December 15, 1997, Send your proposals (by mail, fax, or e-mail) to Professor I.S. Jawahir at the address below. The workshop organizing committee will finalize the format of the workshop and will communicate with the propective contributors by February 15, 1998. We also request all interested attendees to indicate their intertion to attend the workshop by January 15, 1998.
