Samantha Meenach is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Kentucky. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky in May 2005. Prior to beginning her graduate work at the University of Kentucky, she spent a year as a graduate student at Arizona State University in Dr. Joseph Wang’s laboratory at the Biodesign Institute. As an undergraduate she participated in two Research Experience for Undergraduates programs at the University of South Carolina and University of Kentucky.

Samantha’s current project in the laboratory is a collaboration with Dr. Kimberly Ward Anderson, a professor of Chemical Engineering at UK. This project involves testing the cytocompatibility and viability of murine fibroblasts with various types of novel nanomaterials. These nanomaterials include both hydrogels and degradable polymers with the incorporation of nanoparticles.
