Nitin Satarkar is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Kentucky. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Mumbai, Institute of Chemical Technology, India. He joined the University of Kentucky in Fall 2005 as a Ph.D. candidate.

His area of research includes biocompatible polymers having applications in medical and pharmaceutical fields. His current project in the laboratory is synthesis and characterization of nanocomposite materials that contain temperature responsive hydrogels and magnetic particles. The properties of nanocomposites that are being analyzed include morphology, swelling behavior and response to varying electromagnetic field.
