Course Description

This course provides a basic introduction to the method of moment solution of electromagnetic boundary value problems. To this end, a basic introduction to numerical analysis is provided. Fundamental electromagnetic theorems such as Green's theorems, uniqueness, reciprocity, duality and equivalent currents are covered in detail. Fundamental integral equation formulations are derived for specific boundary value problems. The method of moment solution to such boundary value problems is then presented. Basis and test function spaces are investigated and the rate of error convergence is studied. Finally, the thin-wire kernel for wire structures is presented along with applications of thin wire scattering and radiating antennas.
