Freshman Scholarships
Freshman Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student's
high school grade point average, ACT or SAT scores, writing ability
and leadership potential. The scholarship application gives a good
overview of each applicant's development in those areas.
- To apply for a UK College of Engineering scholarship, carefully
complete the application
form (PDF). You may print out the scholarship application from

- Applications must be postmarked no later than January 15 of
the year you enroll.

- Each application will be reviewed by the College of Engineering
Scholarship Committee appointed by the Dean. The committee
will decide if a scholarship will be awarded, and if so, the amount of
the award. Each application is given three separate evaluations.

- Engineering scholarships are awarded for one academic year, in
two equal amounts, for the fall and spring semesters. Students may
re-apply for Currently
Enrolled Undergraduate Scholarships (PDF) in the spring of each
year.

- Most engineering scholarships are partial scholarships ranging
from $500 to $5,000. The average first-year scholarship generally
ranges between $1,000 and $1,500.

- The College of Engineering offers dozens of specific scholarships.However,
one application serves for all Engineering scholarships availableto
first-year students with the exception of those offered by
the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
