Purpose
The purpose of the Open Micromanufacturing and Nanomanufacturing Equipment (OMNE) project is to promote innovation in the design and use of manufacturing equipment for micro-scale and nano-scale products. Particpants in the project produce Open Design equipment and machinery that is freely available via an Open Design license. The OMNE project invites new contributors, projects, and users. Any interested parties should contact Prof. Ryan Vallance in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Kentucky.
Open Design FAQ and Aphorisms

Responses to frequently asked questions about Open Design are available at the Open Design FAQ. This FAQ describes the basic principles of Open Design, its advantages and risks, and the history of Open Design.

Aphorisms derived from Eric Raymond's discussion on Open Source software are available at Open Design Aphorisms. This documents draws similarities between the Open Source approach to software and machine design.
