E-day 2006 Egg Drop Contest

Rules:

•  Entries will be entered into one of 2 divisions K-8 or 9-12.

•  Maximum width, depth, and length of the device are 5". Note this is a maximum dimension.

•  Maximum weight of the device, with the egg, may not exceed 12 ounces.

Type of materials that may NOT be used to construct the device:

•  glass or any materials that may be hazardous to any bystander

•  spray foam or other hard setting materials

•  parachutes of any type may not be used.

•  The egg itself may NOT be covered with materials of any kind, such as tape, glue, etc. that would prevent the shell from cracking.

•  You must use a large RAW chicken egg.

•  Contestants must load the egg into their device before submitting it for entry.

•  No more than 2 entries per contestant are allowed. Separate entry forms must be submitted for each entry (available at the event).

•  A visual inspection will be made and a panel of 2 or more qualified engineers or engineering students will measure the dimensions. Entries must meet specifications detailed in this brochure.

•  If more than 1 device succeeds in protecting its egg, and any 2 or more of these happen to be the same weight, the smallest device will then be awarded the prize.

•  1 st , 2 nd , & 3 rd prizes will be awarded after the contest in both divisions.

•  Each contestant must submit ON PAPER the following information: Name, School, and Grade.

IMPORTANT:

Your device must not pose a hazard to bystanders and spectators. (We reserve the right to refuse to drop any device that we judge "UNSAFE" to those observing the event.)
