The College of Engineering will be taking applications for College of
Engineering Ambassadors once again this semester. The accepted
ambassadors will begin in October 2009.
The ambassador program consists of students from various engineering
disciplines that enjoy working with students, parents, faculty, and
alumni to help the College of Engineering. They go to various
University of Kentucky Preview Nights, give prospective students tours
of the college, help at various College Alumni and Student events,
and various other activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Freshmen orientation sessions
Preview Nights with the University
Events that any department may be hosting which require assistance
University events which require College of Engineering participation.
Engineering Day
Merit Weekend
Middle and High School visits/career days
College of Engineering tours
Meeting with prospective students
. . . . . and other duties as assigned.
ATTRIBUTES: Outgoing (or at least able to pretend to be for hours at a time)
Knowledgeable of your specific major requirements and can explain what is involved to complete a degree in your program
Knowledgeable about what the University of Kentucky offers or have the ability to quickly learn
Open-minded and tolerant
Adaptable to a variety of situations and people
Are in good standing with the College of Engineering (means that 4.0 GPA is not required)
Sense of humor (you will use this attribute the most)
Positive attitude about the program, yet not blinded to areas which may need improvement
Students with at least two more years left to complete their degrees are preferred applicants. It takes a while to really "get with the program."
To apply for consideration, please complete the application and turn it into Jennifer Doerge (159 Ralph G. Anderson Building), applications can also be picked up in her office.
Personal interviews will be held.
The deadline to turn in applications is WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.
