ASCE honors Hancher

'Highest distinction' bestowed

Dr. Donn E. Hancher, Professor and Terrell-McDowell Chair of Construction Engineering and Management, and Associate Dean for Administration and Academic Affairs, was recognized as an honorary member of the American Society of Civil Engineers at the ASCE's Annual Conference in Chicago . Recognition took place at the conference banquet Friday night. Announcement of the honor was made earlier this year.

Honorary membership is the highest distinction bestowed by ASCE, which describes honorary members as those "who have attained acknowledged eminence in some branch of engineering or in the arts and sciences related thereto, including the fields of engineering education and construction."


ASCE honored Hancher for "over four decades of distinguished service and outstanding leadership in civil engineering education, particularly the development and administration of the ABET-accredited undergraduate programs in Construction Engineering and Management at Purdue University, Texas A&M, and the University of Kentucky, and for outstanding contribution in the mentoring of students."
