Graduates honored
The University of Kentucky College of Engineering recognized 652 graduates in ceremonies Sunday at Heritage Hall in Lexington , including a record 56 Ph.D. recipients. The College's event followed the University of Kentucky 's 140th Commencement at Rupp Arena. Photos from Graduate Recognition Ceremony Dr. Douglass Kalika, associate professor of chemical engineering, received the Henry Mason Lutes Award for Excellence in Teaching in the College of Engineering. "He truly pursues excellence in teaching and he is a role model for faculty in the area of teaching," said Dr. Tate Tsang, department chair, in a letter to the selection committee. "Without hesitation, I can say that Dr. Kalika is the most gifted teacher I have encountered at the University of Kentucky," said chemical engineering senior Sarah Bashadi, who has taken three courses taught by Kalika.
