Casey William Dunn received
the Young Construction Engineer of the Year Award.
Casey
William Dunn was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on August 15, 1977.
He is the eldest of two sons born to Debbie and Chesley Dunn, Jr. He
worked as a preteen and teenager as a laborer and carpenter's helper
for his grandfather's residential construction company.
Casey graduated from Christian
County
High
School in 1995.
While growing up, Casey played many sports including baseball, soccer,
and tennis for his high school. Upon graduation, he entered the University
of Kentucky
in the fall
of 1995 to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. He was awarded the
Transportation
Cabinet scholarship his freshman year, which he maintained through his
senior year. While in college, he was a member of American Society of
Civil Engineers and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
During high school, Casey developed an interest in construction while
working for his grandfather. In the summer of 1995, he worked for the
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in construction. Over the next five
summers, he continued his work for KYTC working four summers in construction
and one summer in traffic. In December of 1999, Casey graduated with
a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis on construction
management.
After graduation, Casey accepted a position with Denham-Blythe Company,
Inc. as a field engineer. He worked for the next two years as a field
engineer on a $30M Research and Development building for Lexmark International.
Casey served as a superintendent over several Lexmark projects, Big
Bone Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Expansion, and multiple University
of Kentucky
projects.
Beginning
in 2004, over the next three years, Casey had a chance to serve his
alma mater by running Denham-Blythe's University
of Kentucky
satellite office.
He was the project manager over all business, estimating, and construction
projects for UK
's unit price
contract handling multiple renovations simultaneously both on campus
and in UK 's
medical facilities. UK Unit Price projects include two Starbucks, Chick-fil-A,
Blazer Hall Café, research and development laboratories, and
hospital operating room projects. In 2007, Denham-Blythe assigned Casey
as a senior project manager and moved him to their home office.
As a senior project manager, he built a medical office building for
Kentucky Eye Institute and VA Clinic in Morehead, Kentucky. Currently
he is managing multiple projects at Lexmark, UK Thomas Hunt Morgan Fume
Hood/Life Safety Expansion, and UK 's Expand Chemistry/Physics project.
Casey is a licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky and a LEED Accredited
Professional. He is a member of the
American Society of Civil Engineers, National Society of Professional
Engineers, and the University of Kentucky Alumni Association .
Of all of Casey's life blessings thus far, he is the proudest of his
wife Shannon. They met at the University
of Kentucky
while involved
in Campus Crusade for Christ and were married on May
14, 1999 . Shannon
is a registered
nurse with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Midway
College
. They have
been blessed with two wonderful children, Canaan
, 2 1/2, and
Sarai, 1. The Dunns live in Lexington
, Kentucky
and are members
of Southland Christian Church. The family enjoys attending UK
football and
basketball games and following NASCAR.
