Cabrera receives AIChE award

Carlos A. Cabrera, BSChE '73, president and CEO of UOP, received the 2007 AIChE Fuel and Petrochemical Division Award at the National AIChE Meeting April 23 in Houston. The award is given to an outstanding chemical engineer practicing in the area of Fuels and Petrochemicals who has attained positions of management.

The award citation reads: "This years recipient is Carlos Cabrera, President and CEO of UOP LLC, a leading international supplier of process technology, catalysts, engineered systems, and technical and
engineering services in the petroleum refining, petrochemical, chemical, and gas processing industries.

Mr. Cabrera delivered a presentation titled "Chemical Engineering: Once Again Poised to Shape the Future of the Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry."
Mr. Cabrera is a member of the College of Engineering Hall of Distinction.
