For the first time in its 33-year history, the Kentucky Professional Engineers in Mining (PEM) Seminar will be held virtually, Friday, September 11, 2020. PEM is a non-profit society for registered professional engineers and other professionals who specialize in the mining, metallurgy and exploration industries in Kentucky and surrounding states.
The PEM Seminar was organized to provide professional development and educational opportunities to the industry and to encourage aspiring engineers to consider education in mining engineering and related fields. PEM co-sponsors with the Department of Mining Engineering this annual seminar devoted to updating the membership on changes in government regulations, technical advancements in mining and resource development, requirements of legal and regulatory compliance and engineering issues related to mine safety and health. Attendees receive professional development credit which can be applied toward the requirement for maintaining professional engineering licensure.
