Dean Rudy Buchheit Named to University of Kentucky Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team

August 03, 2020

During his time at Ohio State, Buchheit supervised the recruitment of a three-year faculty cohort that was 45 percent women and diverse men.

The University of Kentucky recently announced a comprehensive, enterprise-wide Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Implementation Plan designed to accelerate progress at UK for our Black communities and other communities of color. Rudy Buchheit, dean of the UK College of Engineering, has been named to the 22-member Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership Team.

During his time at Ohio State, Buchheit supervised the recruitment of a three-year faculty cohort that was 45 percent women and diverse men. He brought that same commitment to diversity and inclusion to UK, leading the college to receive a Bronze Award from the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). In addition to the Bronze Award, the college was further recognized as being “exemplar.” The distinction came as the result of ASEE’s inaugural Diversity Recognition Program.
