ECE Department Awarded $600,000 Grant from U.S. Department of Education

The GAANN grant will provide funds to support graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in research areas related to ECE at UK.

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Kentucky has been awarded a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The three-year grant will total $600,000. Mike Johnson, ECE department chair, will direct the grant.

The GAANN grant will provide funds to support graduate students pursuing doctoral degrees in research areas related to electrical and computer engineering at UK. The general aims of this GAANN fellowship program are to educate and train doctoral students in electrical and computer engineering, with a focus on increasing the number of traditionally underrepresented students, including women and first-generation students, seeking impactful careers in research and teaching.
