Computer science professor Jerzy Jaromczyk has been chosen as the 2009-2010 Ken Freedman Outstanding Faculty Adviser by the University of Kentucky Advising Network.
The award is given annually to a professional adviser and faculty adviser at the University of Kentucky who demonstrate recognize outstanding service in the field of academic advising. All faculty and regular, full or part-time UK staff with significant undergraduate advising responsibilities are eligible.
Dr. Jaromczyk is director of undergraduate studies for the College of Engineering’s computer science department. As a professor, his research areas are algorithms, computational geometry and applications and interdisciplinary research in bioinformatics and computing for the humanities. He is also the faculty adviser of the college’s Association of Computing Machinery team, which was recently invited to compete at the International Finals in Harbin, China.
