Gato Del Sol III, the UK Solar Car, has successfully completed the scrutineering process for the North American Solar Challenge and will start track qualifications Thursday in Cresson, Texas, near Fort Worth.
Advisor Scott Stephens reported that the UK team overcame a number of challenges to become the sixth team of 24 entered to satisfy all categories. To qualify for the road race, the car must now complete 125 miles on the track in one day. Drivers must also qualify on the track.
