Graduate School Programs Through the Graduate School, the Department of Mining Engineering offers degrees leading to one of three optional masters degrees, and the doctor of philosophy. The choice of degree will depend upon the career interests and academic qualifications of the student. Graduate-level degrees emphasize the knowledge and skills that a professional needs to deal with today's increasingly complex mines. Computerization of mines is a fact of life, and advanced mechanization is increasing rapidly in the mining industry. For those students who cannot come to campus because of the nature of their employment, the Master of Mining Engineering program is available by means of instructional television. A sequence of television-compatible courses has been developed that provides both educational and subject depth. |
