The 2017 Kentucky State Mine Rescue Competition will be held in Lexington KY between August 21 and August 23, 2017. The event program is available here.
Dr. Josh Werner joined the Department of Mining Engineering in August 2017 as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Werner received his PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Utah. His research expertise is in the design, performance and process control of extractive metallurgical systems, with an emphasis in hydrometallurgy.

Dr. Steven Schafrik joined the Department of Mining Engineering in August 2017. Dr. Schafrik received BS, MS and PhD degrees from the Department of Mining and Minerals Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is an expert in Mining Systems and Computer Applications for the Mining Industry.
