Mechanical Engineering Program Outcomes

Our graduates will be able to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and mechanical engineering to the solution of problems, particularly in the areas of thermodynamics and energy systems; heat transfer; fluid mechanics; mechanical systems and controls; mechanical design; finite element methods and computer aided graphics; manufacturing; instrumentation; experimental method; statistics; and linear algebra.

In addition, they will exhibit the ability to:

  • design and conduct experiments, and analyze and interpret data;
  • identify, formulate and solve Engineering problems;
  • use the modern technical tools necessary for Engineering practice;
  • communicate effectively;
  • function in a team environment;
  • understand professional and ethical responsibility;
  • understand the impact of Engineering solutions in a global and societal context;
  • understand contemporary issues; and
  • engage in lifelong learning.
