Another opportunity UK College of Engineering students have to gain real-world experience in their chosen field of study is through the Cooperative Education Program.  Students may alternate a semester of study with a semester of employment, giving them one full year of hands-on experience prior to graduation. Co-op students typically earn $12-$18 per hour while in the program and may receive permanent job offers before they receive their diplomas! Participation in the program is an invaluable way for students to increase their marketability as they combine classroom learning with guidance from qualified professionals.  Mechanical engineering majors can participate in co-op placements at major national corporations and government agencies, such as GE Aviation, NASA, Toyota, BMW, Proctor & Gamble, UPS Air Group, Lexmark, Alltech, Belcan, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the National Security Agency, the Trane Corporation and others.
