The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kentucky invites applications for an anticipated opening for a tenure-track faculty position at the Lexington campus for Fall 2008. The position requires a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline and a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and professional service. Preference will be given to those who apply at the assistant or associate professor ranks, and to those with interest in (a) Advanced Materials Processing, (b) Biomedical Systems, (c) Energy Systems and (d) Product Design and Manufacturing. The Department of Mechanical Engineering has moved to state-of-the-art facilities in 2002, which provides a superior research and education environment. The department has strong ties with a number of colleges within the University, such as Pharmacy and Medicine; as well as University centers and institutes, including the Center for Manufacturing, the Center for Applied Energy Research, the Center for Computational Sciences and the Center for Biomedical Engineering; allowing for interdisciplinary research and professional development potential.
