Mandatory for all College of Engineering graduate students. Includes information on research ethics and data management. Students who have taken this course previously in August 2010, January 2011 or Friday, February 3, 2012 do NOT need to take this class again.

Energy Seminar: Busting the Myths of Coal
*You’ve heard the opinions, now get the facts!*
If you read the kernel regularly, you have seen the outspoken opinions of numerous students on campus supporting and opposing the burning of coal on campus. The thing about opinions articles is that they are opinions… not facts. So the Energy Club, an organization devoted to promoting energy awareness to campus, has decided to dig in and get the facts.
*Thursday, Feb 2nd at 7pm in Student Center Rm 230* Bob Wiseman, the Vice President of Facilities at UK, will be talking about the use of coal in energy production on campus and addressing the FAQ’s on UK’s coal-fired steam plants.
Topics of discussion include:
– Emissions
– Natural Gas and Renewable alternatives and the tuition increase associated with each
– Permitting
– Questions asked by YOU

UK Coal-fired Steam Plant Tour

If you read the kernel regularly, you have seen the outspoken opinions of numerous students on campus supporting and opposing the burning of coal on campus. The thing about opinions articles is that they are opinions… not facts. So the Energy Club, an organization devoted to promoting energy awareness to campus, has decided to dig in and get the facts.
We will be taking a tour of UK’s central heating plant on S. Upper St near the Taylor Education building.
- This is open to everyone. If you would like to attend, meet outside of the Student center Starbucks at 2:45pm. Tour will start at 3pm.
