Paper Airplane Contest

General Information

Construct a paper airplane on site and throw it through a hula hoop hung from the ceiling. Available materials to be provided are 8.5″ x 11″ sheets of paper, tape, and safety scissors. Books about paper airplane construction will also be available.

Rules and Judging

  1. Airplanes are to be constructed by the contestant at the contest site from the provided materials.
  2. The contestant must throw the plane through a hoop from a fi xed distance (or beyond).
  3. The distance required is age dependent, with younger participants making shorter throws.
  4. Each contestant may have three attempts with a given plane.
  5. Each contestant may build up to three planes, subject to crowd conditions.
  6. The contest will be open from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Prizes

All contestants will be allowed to keep their plane. Successful contestants will receive a small prize, to be announced. Only one prize will be awarded per contestant even with multiple successful throws.
