General Information
Straws and balloons will be provided for the participants to use to make their racers. Contestants will select a straw and decide whether to cut it to a shorter length or not. Then, they will select a balloon and blow it up. Once their balloons has reached the desired size, the participants will pinch the end to prevent air from escaping and tape their straw to it. Then, still holding their balloon shut, they will string one of the two racing strings through their straw and wait to release the air from their balloons. The force from the air leaving the balloons will force the straws to travel down the string, thus causing them to “race”. The participant whose balloon either reaches the end of the string first or, if neither reach the end of the string, whose balloon travels the farthest wins and receives a piece of candy.
