Edible Car Contest
What is it?
A contest in which K-12 students are invited to build a completely edible car.
First and second place prizes will be awarded to cars that travel the farthest.
The car determined by the judges to be the most creative design will also be awarded a prize.
When is it?
Two separate contest sessions will be held. Students K-8 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and students 9 - 12 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Prizes will be awarded at the completion of each session).
In case of a tie in either session, the car that tastes best to the judges will be declared the winner.
Prizes:
First prize - $35.00 gift certificate
Second prize - $25.00 gift certificate
Best of Show - $25.00 gift certificate
Regulations:
(1) Every car must be edible.
(2) Car must have a body, three or more wheels, and at least two axles.
(3) Car must travel down an incline plane that is 42 inches long, 12 inches wide, and at a 30 degree angle.
(4) Car must measure no greater than 12² x 12² x 12².
(5) Only one entry per session per person is permitted.
(6) The car may be assembled at home and brought in, or you may assemble it using materials provided by SWE at the contest site. Plastic knives will be provided by SWE.
(7) Contestant must be present when car is run to collect prize.
