An undergraduate certificate is a way to show that in addition to the BS you have a special interest in and knowledge of a particular topic. For example, EE offers undergraduate certificates in the traditional and well-established – a Physics emphasis, like Nano-Scale Engineering where you work with objects one billionth of a meter in size. The newest EE certificate emphasis covers cutting edge issues in power and energy, including “smart grid” and renewable energy areas.
