Tenure and Tenure-Track Positions:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Kentucky invites outstanding candidates for tenured and tenure track faculty positions in the area of electric power and energy. Candidates are being considered at all levels. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

The department has 22 full-time faculty and plays leading roles in the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CeNSE), the Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments, and the Center for Manufacturing. The department has strong research programs in nanoelectronics, signal and image processing, computational electromagnetics, computer cluster architectures, computer networking, and embedded systems. In power and energy, the department has faculty actively involved in research in power transmission and distribution, electric machines, alternative energy (solar), and other areas. The department has a power engineering curriculum as part of Electrical Engineering at the undergraduate and graduate level. The department has good interactions with regional utilities and industries and with the university's Center for Applied Energy Research. Recently, the US Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory has announced the establishment of a national battery manufacturing research lab to be located nearby.

Lab Facility Manager -- Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

The University of Kentucky Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering is currently accepting applications for a Lab Facility Manager (listed by the university as a "Research Facility Manager", requisition number SM527341 ). Applications for the position must be submitted through the University of Kentucky HR web site, ukjobs.uky.edu. (On the website, click "Search Postings" in the menu on the left, and then enter the requisition number "SM527341". Applications will be accepted through August 30, 2009.

The position will manage the schedule and flow of work and resources in the instructional labs, and will maintain and service equipment in research labs. This person will also be expected to teach students basic circuit laboratory experiments, including use of common electrical equipment such as power supplies, function generators, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, soldering, etc.

The expected qualifications for this position are a Masters degree with three years of experience, or a Bachelors with five years of experience.
