Jeri Smith is the president and founder of Galmont Consulting and a longtime sales, technology and management executive. After studying the rapid proliferation of Internet applications and the increasing complexity of software architecture in the late 1990s, Smith saw a need for greater quality assurance and testing expertise in the marketplace. She founded Galmont Consulting in 1999 and set out to build a world-class team of technology experts specializing in quality assurance and testing.
Today the Chicago-based company has more than 175 employees on staff and has seen its client base grow annually by 50%. An HP Select Partner, Galmont Consulting serves a range of industries and businesses that include small and mid-size organizations as well as Fortune 500 companies such as Caremark Rx, Inc.; U.S. Cellular Corporation; Blue Cross Blue Shield and NYSE Euronext, Inc.
Taking responsibility for the company’s daily operations, Smith spearheads all service line, new business and partnership development efforts. In addition, she takes the lead role in consultant recruitment and development and is dedicated to maintaining a brilliant roster of industry experts capable of increasing the value of client technologies.
Prior to founding Galmont, Smith was national sales director for the technology division of Spherion, a multibillion-dollar corporation. She also worked as the branch manager of Spherion’s San Francisco office, where she had sole responsibility for managing the $60 million operation and its 200 employees. Her experience also includes a partner position at Artemis Concept Company as well as senior sales and management roles at Intercall Corporation, the world’s largest audio and Web conference services provider.
Smith is a member of the Chicago Quality Assurance Association, the Chicago Software Association, the International Institute of Business Analysis and the Economic Club of Chicago. She serves on the board of directors for Youth Outreach Services, spearheading their “Send a Kid to Camp” program.
A 1987 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in marketing, Smith lives in the Chicago area with her husband and two children.
