While engineering is one of the few disciplines that requires only a four-year, undergraduate degree to become a fully-licensed, high-earning professional, earning a bachelor’s degree doesn’t need to be the final stop on your educational path at the College of Engineering. We offer a competitive graduate education program which lets you continue your education while conducting research as a master’s student at UK. For more information, contact Dr. Eric A. Grulke, associate dean for research and graduate studies, at egrulke@engr.uky.edu. There are also more options listed below.
In the 21st-century business world, many engineers lead others and need to better understand the business environment they’re managing. The College of Engineering, in partnership with UK’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, offers an integrated program that lets you earn both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degree in five short years.
The BS/MBA program integrates engineering and essential business courses and includes a unique study abroad component. If you want to be a business leader in any engineering-related field, the BS/MBA program could be for you. With it, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to make sound managerial decisions as you lead companies in Kentucky, the United States, and around the world.
Eligible engineering students will receive a letter inviting them to apply for the program after successfully completing their sixth semester at the College of Engineering. For more information, contact Dr. William Maloney, director of the BS/MBA program, at maloney@engr.uky.edu.
Today, intense competition is forcing companies to find new ways to deliver innovative products and services to market faster and cheaper. This need is breaking down the barriers that separated the engineering and business functions replacing these antiquated structures with cross-functional teams composed of engineering and management personnel.
The Scholars in Engineering And Management (SEAM) program is designed to complement your chosen engineering major. The program brings together undergraduate business and engineering students to participate in an integrated program in which students learn from each other. As a SEAM Scholar, you are eligible to enroll in specially designed, led by an interdisciplinary faculty, courses that will challenge you to excel and expand your professional horizons by working in cross-functional teams with other high achievement-oriented students.
Because the fields of electrical and computer engineering are both based on a shared core of theory, dedicated students can leave the College of Engineering with degrees in both. This isn’t a double major—instead, if you choose to take an additional two or three courses (equivalent to an additional semester of study) you can graduate from UK with two complete B.S. degrees. With an additional year of study, you can even earn a third bachelor’s degree in computer science! Contact Robert Heath at heath@engr.uky.edu for more information.
If you’re interested in adding a measure of environmental study or a bit of nano knowledge to Get more than just the degree you came here for. With our certification programs you can add a special extra certification on top of your B.S. Think of it as the cherry on top – the little something extra that will make your employers turn their heads your way. With a little extra legwork, you can achieve certification in:
These certificate programs require a few extra courses, but they’ll go a long way to make you a well-rounded, appealing engineer when you graduate!
