Presentations Dr. Frank Huggins, CFFLS, presented one of eight plenary lectures at the International Conference on Materials Engineering for Resources (ICMR) 2001 Professional Activities Dr. Jose R. Bicudo, biosystems and agricultural engineering, is participating in an European project Judi Cromer, CFFLS, is a member of the Election/Orientation Committee organizing the proposed UK Staff Senate. Dr. Doug Kalika, chemical and materials engineering, was recently elected Vice-Chair of the Materials Engineering and Sciences Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Sue Scheff, women in engineering, has been selected to serve as a member of the UK Commission on Women. David Veech, UKCM, is a member of the planning committee for "Racing Toward Knowledge: Lean Learning Workshop II" Outreach and Community Service Workshop Development and Presentation Dr. Craig Douglas, computer science and mechanical engineering, taught a select group of Chinese researchers Student News and Activities Miscellaneous The Engineering Staff Council is once again coordinating a holiday service project on behalf of all the College to benefit those less fortunate than ourselves An agreement for faculty and student exchange was signed between UK and the Federal University of ViŤosa (UFV), in Minas Gerais state, Brasil in September. Dr. Craig Douglas, computer science and mechanical engineering, has received two recent gifts from the Hewlett-Packard Company The UK electrical and computer engineering faculty hosted a joint retreat with the electrical and computer engineering faculty of the University of Louisville.
