Materials Engineering

Membership is open to any student to join the American Society of Metals International student organization. Student members gain professional competence by linking with other members worldwide to obtain information and contacts. Meetings are usually held jointly with the Bluegrass Chapter of American Society for Metals and give students the opportunity to interact with professional engineers from industry, academia and government. The department sponsors Alpha Sigma Mu, a national materials engineering honor society to recognize and promote high scholarship, original investigation and professional service by its undergraduate students.

Chemical Engineering

Each semester many activities are scheduled by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers student chapter (AIChE). These range from field trips to industry in Kentucky and adjoining states, playing intramural sports, participating in such community activities as Habitat for Humanity, Run for Kids, Manchester Center and Hope Center, to attending the AIChE section and national conventions. We are proud of the reputation our students have gained nationally. They consistently bring home awards from the national convention, including most outstanding student chapter and many outstanding student paper awards. The department sponsors the Omega Chi Epsilon, a national honor society to recognize and promote high scholarship, original investigation and professional service.
